The Cosmic Buzz-saw

Greetings to all revolvers of the karmic wheel. 2004 is just around the corner. But first I want to talk about 2008 and the Democrats' prospects for victory. Thom Hartman alluded to some new scandal that had broken but he wouldn’t elaborate being out of time. Johnny Wendell was a local fill-in for Randy Rhodes. He has a theory about why the democrats caved in to Bush. He says they didn’t want to be fingered for being against the war. In their minds the American people are still against a troop withdrawal and they believe the Republicans would have tarred them with that. Wendell believes like I do that Bush will never capitulate, but that in time Republicans will come to Bush and say “Our people are giving us hell when we return home on leaves; do something!” That is an interesting theory. The Democrats are playing “Rope a dope” with the Republicans leading them on into a trap. President Bush is so blind he won’t change his policies for anything.

I had Maurie Povitch on from 12:30 on. In soap land there has been a lot of action. John Black’s hand grasped Belle and wouldn’t let go. This is a sign. Willow is starting to become antagonistic again to the Bradys. Nick will either be manipulated by Willow or manipulated by Chelsea. Elvis Jr. intervened on Sammy and the baby’s behalf when Tony hinted that they “might just take the fetus in case they need to harvest any stem cells at a future date”. This has to be Sammy’s worst hell. On Passions many secrets were revealed. Julian now knows he’s not the father of little Ethan because Eve ran an DNA comparison both on Fox and on Little Ethan, but only Fox passed muster. Julian thinks Teresa knew all along. Sheridan set Luis and Fancy up just as they were about to make love in a hospital bed. Now Luis will be returned to his cell block to be beaten up. And Whitney and Teresa found out not only that Vince was gay but they came upon Vince and Chad making love in the back store room.

Derek Schleshenger is Laura’s son and is stationed in Afghanistan at the age of twenty-one. But he runs a sleazy web site the military made him take down. It had scenes of murder and rape of foreigners and forced oral sex with children at gun point, alledgidly. Laura’s son is a whacko. A real whacka-doodle. Perhaps because at the age of ten he had his “doodle” whacked so he could become an Orthodox Jew like his mother. The phrase “I am my kid’s mom” will never have the same meaning again. This combined with all the candid shots and sex stuff causes me to look at the Dr. Laura show with disgust. Her callers are reduced to the level of die hard groupies. Were I inclined to condone obscene E mails to celebrities, this would be a perfect opportunity for it.

I watched the soap operas. Claire can’t be dead because John Black came to Belle while she slept in a dream and told her that being dead himself, he would know if her daughter were among the dead, and she isn’t. Marlena and Bo are somewhat sympathetic to these rantings. Victor is opposed to the idea of Philip and Sean making peace. Tomy Di Mira has reentered the show and now is barking orders to Elvis Jr. and Samantha was kidnapped in a car after getting a bait letter. On Passions, Miguel pretty much has the idea that Kay is not going to divorce Fox and marry him. Whitney was summoned to that gay bar where she saw Vince and husband Chad in an embrace. Perhaps she can figure it out. Julian is now being sucked into the blackmailer’s scheme by a note demanding a DNA test for “your son”. Tomorrow promises to be a busy day.

Reggie the alligator who has been in that park lake for two years has been captured. Some old lady wasn’t happy about that. He was a tourist attraction. Reggie ventured out on to land and some people grabbed and muzzled him. He’ll be in quarenteen for ninety days and then Reggie will appear at the LA Zoo.

A twenty year old female driver ran down a seventy year old man in the crosswalk at high speed. She’ll be charged with manslaughter and felony hit and run. She was pursed by good Sameritans who tracked him down. There seems to be an increase in the news of “good citizens” collaring criminals. I would imagine people on My Space are more willing to report a sexual predator than before.

You know, Roy Masters talked of the dangers of the spirit of a boy’s mother entering into her son. The “Norman Bates” sidrone. This is what happened to Laura’s son Derek. I think it’s about time he had a name besides “the kid”. Perhaps you could do a horror movie called ironically, “A Mother’s Love”. Love is like oxygen. You get too much and it’s dangerous. Something about the feminine nature of the mother enters into the son and the son “protects” this “feminine nature” with any means, however violent. Derek had a slogan about dishing it out to people whether they deserve it or not.

"Turn off your mind, relax
and let us suck out your brain'

Is it not piety; is it not piety?

He who Surrenders to the Void
commits an act of Karmic Suicide
God himself can't even impose on you

"and ignorance and hate may mourn the dead"
"but I bet you don't know why?"

"Existance is not a game, existance is not a dry run;
It's the Real Thing

Is it Karmic Freefall or are you just

Dead in the water?

A couple of times I’ve had trouble pressing the button and having the computer stay on. This is Sunday morning June 20th. I got back six cigarettes from Frank. When I got up I went out there and Frank sat at the table and I moved and when I was done Frank asked me for a cigarette. Meet the Press had a Bill Clinton debate. Perhaps he was honest about Monica, but what about Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Wanita Brodric, and Kathleen Willy? Clinton may be mad at Ken Starr but in point of fact he skated on Whitewater. He got away with that, and all the other offences he committed. Besides I don’t like him admitting guilt with that grinnish smile.

June 18th. is Paul’s birthday. They played “Beautiful Boy” for Father’s Day like they said. They played “Valotte” by Julian Lennon. Static on KRTH and KOLA.

[three sensenses deleted] Mike made the “Hotel California” reference to this place. We had pancakes and sausage for breakfast. The lady was clearing away dishes at twenty two minutes to eight. She took away everything, including my coffee cup. They should wait till at least a quarter of to clear away dishes. Overcast weather.

Last night Patch Adams was on. It’s a good movie. I wish I had the courage and rise above my situation and serve humanity like he did. They don’t use patient names because that encourages “transference”. There’s no question we need a little joy and human contact in hospitals. Some times nurses can be jaded.

I watched the Jesus show this morning. Predestination came up as a topic. “Jesus” engaged in that fuzzy brain rationality in which he says “You have Free Will but God exists out of time and knows the future”. I ask “does a rat have Free Will?”. I suppose you could argue that it does, but if it’s been condition its actions are pretty predictable. And I ask you the question: Where is there the greatest contrast of intelligence? Between a human and a rat, or between God and a human? God not only knows a human better than a lab technician knows a rat, but he created every brain call in the rat. “Jesus” can talk about a “Choice” God offers a man. But if he’s really God he wont offer him any choice he can alter his future by. It can thus be said, “God can’t create anything he can alter the destiny of once it’s been set”. Obviously there are things God could do to manifest himself now that he is not doing, on planet earth. It dawned on me that under Calvinism it could be said “Belief in the resurrection of Christ will get you into heaven and lack of belief will send you to hell”, and it dawned on me that the fact of the resurrection needn’t be true, you just have to believe in it. Of course “Jesus” is throwing out scripture like Sodom and Gamorah where God said “Let us go down and see if it is as bad as word has come to me, and if not, I will know it”. Or God telling Abraham “Do not harm the lad, for NOW I know that you will not withhold your only son”. Or, “It’s not God’s will that any should perish”. Or the one about “It repented God that he had made mankind”. “Jesus” did have a point about predestination. It’s a manifestation of the space-time continuum. We have the illusion of moving through time when actually it’s already occurred. Jesus said of a man’s sin “Of course I am grieved when you do it”. But he should be just as grieved at a sin committed two hundred years by someone. Nothing takes Jesus by surprise. As I have said before this is disconcerting to me when the family looks at a failure to get a job or something and says, “I knew he’d fail”. But the strongest moral point where man has a beef with God is in the topic of prayer. For clearly God lied when he said “Be like the widow and the judge, pray without ceasing. Never give up hope”. In the case of the widow and the judge changing his mind would be difficult. When it comes to God, changing his mind is impossible, or as it is written “Is God a man that he should change his mind?” (Selah)

You know in my “prophecy” against [Pete Richards'] first marriage [edit] written the first few days of August 1971, [Pete] in retrospect didn’t have “free will” to alter it. So it came to pass. This is what I meant when I said that God isn’t going to give you any choice where it’s possible for you to decide something other that that which is predestined. This fuzzy brained thinking of KFI’s “Jesus” is going to tell on Christianity one day. It will be its undoing. Because people are getting smarter and one day the average person will bee what I plainly see. You can’t fight predestination. And with that illusion shattered, all the talk about “salvation” and “redemption” will go by the wayside.

Twenty after eleven and I’m overdue for a smoke break.

The Seventh Day had “Night Moves” by Bob Seeger. I was just thinking if they played the title song in heaven you’d have the response from people, “I remember, too” ”So do I –give us back our youth”. We had roast beef for dinner and it was nice and tender. I had seconds. Chocolate cake. I went to the store for cigarettes, coffee, and two cinnamon rolls. Glen just came by for his eighth cigarette.

“Jesus” this morning was a little nit picky about pre marital sex. A guy asked if he should boycott the wedding because they were already living together. He then said he didn’t think they were right for each other. That’s a very delicate subject to broach. If he turns out to be wrong all they’ll remember is he boycotted the wedding.

Investigating Gonzo-gate

Today Monica Goodwin testified before congress. I don't know if there was coverage in your area because I've heard cable companies were dropping coverage in some places. Monica is a graduate of Regents law school, which is one of the worst law schools in the country, as well as one of the most right wing. Pat Robertson went to Regents. Monica was given use immunity, which means that she had no choice about testifying and could not invoke the fifth amendment. I imagine that means nothing in today's session can be used in bringing charges against her but charges could be brought using other independant evidence. She is deputy to Attorney General Alberto Gonsolez. Her claim is that she's just a loyal employee loyal to the Bush adminestration. She says if she broke any laws "she didn't mean to". The topic under discussion was "caging". According to the Google definition this means reading and sorting and catigorizing people's doner mail. It also means disenfranchizing Black voters like happened with Ohio in 2004 and in Florida in the year 2000. For a thorough rendition of the 2004 election fraud enter election fraud Ohio in 2004 and you'll get that long article in the Rolling Stone. Some of you may wish to read that right now. As you know its a credible argument that the Supreme Court actually picked the Presidential winner in the year 2000. Back then a lot of us didn't care. We just wanted the issue to go away. Thom Hartman has stated that he's no longer in favor of impeachment but he just wants congress to continue to investigate. I might point out that good media coverage would help and networks have been less than forthcoming. But the other reason why Hartman is now against impeachment of Bush or Chaney is because he now says the whole Republican party ought to be impeached for violation of the Rico statutes, which were used against gangsters. Intimidation seems to be the weapon of choice. Illegal aliens are told if they vote they will be thrown in jail or deported. But even if you're a perfectly legal minority or even a Black, you may be told this by a regestrar of voters according to Hartman.

Hartman believes that pressure on the President to withdraw the troops from Iraq will mount despite today's cave in by the Democrats cutting a deal where President Bush gets the funding he wanted for the troops and there is no time table or "bench marks" for troop withdrawal. But Sylvia Browne continues to believe troops will be withdrawn from Iraq beginning in late 2007 the troops will be coming home. To me this seems highly unlikely. Other Presidents have backed down under pressure such as Johnson and Clinton. And Arnold Swartzenegger has undergone a political makeover due to popular demend. But it's not in the President's nature to change. Today he made a speech releasing new evidence about Osama Bin Laden planning this or that massive terrorist action in this country and in Iraq. To me it's completely unrealistic that some general is going to get up before the American Public and say "Our troops were not successful; it's time to fold up out tents and bring our troops home and leave the field of batttle to the enemy". Thom Hartman said that democrats these days have a choice. We can rout for peace on the short rum. I guess this means we are to pray for bad news from the Iraqi front about progress of the Serge, and if the news is bad enough "we win" and we get peace. But if this happens the Republicans will claim victory because of course all those awful things Mc Cain and others claim will happen such as genocide, really won't happen and they know that. So we will have peace for a few months. But then Fred Thompson or someone will be elected next year and Republicans will be laundhing new adventures in Venesuela or in Iran or Syria. More ways for our troops to die. But if Hillary gets elected we will have peace beginning January 20th. 2009. According to Sylvia Browne, Hillary Clinton will be the nominee, and there is little reason to doubt that she will be the standard bearer of the democratic party next year.

The Anaheim Ducks beat the Detroit Red Wings and will be playing for the Stanley Cup against Ottawa. This is good news for locals. In other news tomorrow is May 24th. which is an Orion Federation holliday which, according to them, is in celebration of an event that is decades in the future. Of course "the 24th. of May" is mentioned both in Lakeside Park by Rush, and it's also in a Blue Oyster Cult song. May 24th. of also Bob Dylan's birthday. If I'm not mistaken it's also the sign of Aracnid, the Spider, in Astrology 13. This is what's referred to as "lunar astrology" and it's based on the idea of measuring the top of a 13 x 12 by 5 right triangle, rather than the "solar method" of measuring the bottom. Having thirteen signs including Arachnid, is considered measuring the psychically in tune. Sylvia Browne is sure convincing on the Montell Williams show. She never appears to be caught off guard but always tells everybody exactly what they need to hear right then. She teaches that "sometimes people don't know they are dead". Some of you may quote to me the proverb "matter and energy can never be created or destroyed". Therefore if life is energy it can't be destroyed. I've known about matter and energy since the fourth grade. But if we see a building on fire we don't say, "That building is changing in to another form" or "that building is passing on to a better place". No. We say that the building is destroyed. So it is with human life. Sylvia Browne says that this life is the only pain we will ever have and that the dead are always in a state of bliss. Let me remind you of what I call "Arlo Guthrie thinking". On March 24th. 1976 I might have been thinking as I confessed Christ as my Lord and Savior, "Well, there aren't but two things that could possibly happen. Either I enter into the Love of the Lord and receive all manner of blessings for my service to God right now. OR - - I could undergo persecution in this life and all the while my faith and character could be being perfected so that I enter into eternal bliss upon my death a perfected being." But there was a third possability I hadn't counted upon. - - - You know. People could play the "either - or" game till the cows come home and rationalize a bunch of good things about President Bush. Why good things HAVE to happen now because all this MOMENTUM is building up putting PRESSURE on George Bush to change his policies. Let me tall you you can't put pressure on this President any more than you can put pressure on God. There is a metal rings puzzle in my drawer that a friend gave me. The secret is to get this metal ring on or off the metal item. The friend did it in my presence, quickly. I know it can be done. There exists therefore a way to do it; I just haven't figured it out yet. So it is with President Bush. We don't see HOW the President will keep the Iraq War going till the last moments of his Presidential term. All we can be pretty sure of is THAT the President will find a way to rationalize what he does. After all is nothing else the President is a professional rationalizer.

And now "Probing the wonders of green cheese in Your Diet"

testing one two three In mid February of 1991 our troops has still not crossed the border into Kueit from Saudi Arabia. People began to speculate that we were afraid of a ground war with the Republican Guard. In those days, Joe Crummy was still a liberal. I myself spent a lot of time at ROP writing letters to people in a neat computer format. I wrote a letter to my pastor, "Mike Bowman". Pete Richards had told me not to mention his firing in any communacations with Pastor Mike, and I respected his wishes. I was also doing these album compilations such as "Psycho Killer" and also a remake of an older album "Through a Beledonic Haze" with the songs listed Z to A. I know in a letter to Tom Leykis I sent new lyrics to "Chimes of Freedom".

Around March first David Stanley received in the mail official notice that his wife Laura had officially filed for divorce. Though he had been expected it "sometime" when the moment actually came it startled him a little. A few weeks later his CD player on his Panasonic boom box just conked out. The last album to successfully be played was "Body and Soul" by Joe Jackson, for you trivia buffs. He knew he'd have to get it fixed but didn't want to take his unit on the bus to Circuit City to have them work on it. He decided to call his Sister in law again to ask if she or you-know-who could provide transportation. At first she said "Yes" but mixed in as part of the deal something about letting her borrow a tape recorder to play tapes of two of her now dead brothers at a younger, happier time. For some reason this didn't happen and an argument ensewed on both sides. (this takes too long to explain) So he took his Stereo down to Circuit City dodging rain clouds only to learn that work would be prohibitively expensive. At about this same time his VCR went on the fritz and was now chewing up tapes. He even feared his copy of Star Wars was a victim but that tape was only chewed a little. Well the short story is that he got a new VCR where the record button actually worked, and got himself a new CD player.

In November of 1990 David Stanley had gotten into BASIC programming at ROP. Often he'd be brimming with enthusiasum when he talked to parents about it, but they only acted bored. This same phenominum occurred just last week with Power Bullet- - and I guess we better drop the David Stanley act. We're not fooling anybody. Actually in early January 1991 David Stanley bought David Stanley. That anticipated book on Elvis that claimed Elvis comitted suicide. David took a trip to Bakersfield, a city over the mountains to the north one day. He was driven by "some fource" and he didn't know what. Only that he'd had some psychic impression of Bakersfield and country music and thought going there might trigger memories of his past karma. But it didn't. On the way back over the mountains he first received news that Opperation Desert Storm had commenced, and he heard the news all over the dial. Then he listened to "88 Lines About 44 Women" on KROQ as day turned to night.

David was pursuing his BASIC programming and by April was doing three dimensional arrays. He named one "Colossus" about the dezign of some E I B building with a lot of offices. It was the 2nd. Friday in April around the 12th. that David went on his final "date" with Debby, a girl he had been kidding himself liked him. But although nothing negative happened during this trip to El Pollo Loco, David just didn't have a good feeling about the way this "date" went. Also in April of 1991 David sent his first letter to the famed Asshole from El Paso. The letter primarily talked about three particularly awful sermons, each worse than the last. After he sent the letter sometime after April 7th. David did a follow-up phone call to the Pastor. David wasn't particularly happy about the way the phone call went. It gave him a rather unsettled feeling and he didn't know why. (See "The Four Horsemen" for a few more detales)

Also in April I compiled the "Paint It Black" rock compilation. The compilation began with a bunch of downer songs such as "Paint it Black", "Nothing to Say" by JT, and "Silver Spoon" by Grace Slick. Perhaps this compilation was prophetic of something. He invisioned an all black album except for the title letters. In early May, I quit going to ROP. Originally it was because I had developed a bad cold, but when the cold had improved I just didn't feel like going any more. I was feeling bored. On Mothers Day I spent eating lunch as the Red Robin with parents. The next evening, a Monday, I called Debby again. This time she said she wouldn't be able to talk to me in the future because she was planning her five year high school reunion. (That shows how much younger she was than I was) Later in June when I would call, her mother said she was vacationing in Puerto Rico for a couple of weeks. Somehow that two weeks got stretched into two months or so. Other people such as Henry and Jack seemed to want to talk to me less. About the last interraction I had with Jack was going to a Bible Study at my parent's old house of all places on July 11th. the day of the partial solar eclipse. Frank was there, which was reason enough never to go back. I felt estranged from this fundamentalist group now.

In the second half of June, Bill Gunderson reappeared after having been gone the previous three weeks or so. We were doing a lot of writings to the media. An oppertunity came to go to Magic Mountain with Pete Richards and a mutual friend of ours named Terry. I invited Bill to come with us but he declined. I also called Debby's mother and invited Debby's little sister to go with us and she said No, that it would be inappropiate for someone under eighteen to go. As June turned into July Bill Gunderson did another disappearing act and wouldn't reappear uintill September. In early July, Kathy was out painting the sign to the apartment in a red, blue, and off white decore. This would be the same decore the sign would have the rest of my tenure.

Howeling at a Comcrete Moon

Welcolm to the 2007 hurricane season. They announced today that they were expecting a more active hurricane season this year than normal with seventeen named storms. They say that the top shearing effects of El Nino helped reduce the number of storms last year. Of course hurricanes of increased severety and number are due to global warming. They've been saying that the temperature in the Gulf of Mexico two years ago was ninety or above. As Pete Richards puts it "I don't see how sea life could survive with the temperature that high. Clearly the temperature of the Gulf that year was one of the clearest effects of disasterous global warming. You know they are getting better predicting weather with "computer models". Well, if you had Jesus weather, you could predict weather two weeks or a month from now with total exactitude down to the hour. After all storms are inaminate objects with no will of their own which follow mathematical primciples. Likewise, fires show some "traits" of being alive such as respiration and growth and reproduction, and yet they are not sensient beings. At least outside some horror movie. Our first steps in weather modification will be accurately predicting it.

Al Gore has a new book out called "The Assault on Reason". People think the media is alve and responds to them but yelling at your TV st some commentator you don't like is like howeling at the moon. TV is not a "dialog". We need people to people contact. We need to bring back the old fashioned town meeting. Even in Churches, democracy is dying. They put congragational meetings at noon when people are passing out from starvation and they ramrod all their measures through and vote on them like mindless zombies. I'd like to know how much "debate" in congress is for the CSPN cameras and how much of it is for the other congressmen, to change their minds. One gets the idea politics today is not about changing minds but cutting some "deal" to get your bill through. We need more head to head debates among our politicians, and it has to go on all the times. You don't just "stage" a debate for your TV viewers to hike raitings. Everything is ratings today. We don't get involved in our local PTA or school board or city hall. We need more part time "citizen" politicians. In my opinion we could some "citizen" church pastors too, ones that aren't trained to sugar-bait their words and manipulate people. I have not yet read Al Gore's book but I would imagine it's well worth reading.

They now have a drug approved to eliminate a woman's menstral period. I suppose this is a good thing unless clinical research shows otherwise. The government approved that anti diabetus drug - it starts with an A. But heart attacks increase by 64%. What this means is that of those small number of diabetics who get heart attacks that number is up 64%, but I don't know whether that number is based on a "healthy" population, or based on other identical diabetics. And as drug companies point out sometimes a drug can have meracle working effects on some people who'd be willing to pay good money for it. And to those people they don't want to hear about heart attacks. My own bias is considering the rectal exam drug companies are put through to even get a drug approved for sale, I am reluctant to say that they haven't jumped through enough hoops, but now they have to jump through a few more. That's my take.

Now "My Space" is getting seventy thousand certified sex offenders off their web sites. They say "we have not begun to look for these perverts. We are only just starting". I guess we can look on the bright side. If everyone is as militant against sex perverts as they claim to be, in a short time we ought to wipe out the sexual predator as a species. Of course Dateline is doing all these sting opperations and the Patriot act is even letting the government search people's computers. If nothing else there should be an epidemic of "Clean living" as people fear even the slightest hint of suspicion. It does seem though that fear on this issue seems to opperate inversely to the problem. The more the problem is on the verge of being solved, the more heightened the fear. Oddly you could say the same thing in many cases about international, particularly Islamic terrorism. I think the chances of another 9 - 11 with all our precautions is slim to none. But a fear monger like Guiliani can still generate a lot of votes.

Gasoline prices are now at an all time high with a national average of $3.23, and of course prices here in California are about thirty sense higher. I used to believe we would never in this country see the sort of gasoline prices of four dollars an hour that have been routine in Europe for decades. But demand is still going up. People's "pain thresshold" for high gas prices seems to be getting higher and higher. Larry Elder of course whines that whatever the oil companies are making- - it still isn't enough. There is still too much regulation. They say gas prices are so high now because all the refineries in the whole nation coincidentally made "independant decisions" to close down their refineries for maintenance opperation or something. If you believe that there's some swamp land in Florida I want to sell you. If it's really true that refineries "really want to supply gas" as Larry Elder maintains, then it seems to me at least ONE refinery would buck the trend and sell all the gas he could while the others were closed down. Nobody believes there isn't price collusion. It's like if the price of flour went up bakeries might charge more for donuts and pastries. But if it turns out their profits were five times higher than the year before like 500,000 instead of 50,000 you know people are going to get suspicious. Of course Larry took the oppertunity to say how medical insurance was an overregulated industry. And if oil companies could drill more on Federal lands the price of gasoline would come down. The thing is that gasoline is NOT in short supply. If it were they would not be selling so much of it. Larry Elder also talked about other things like charges that cops in LA deliberately allowed peaceful protesters to mingle with agitators, just so that cops in the end could beat up more people than otherwise would be "necessary".

Let's do one of our David Stanley stories. Sometimes people can walk into a jinx force in their lives but the question is what is causing it and once you isolate the cause to your own satisfaction, can you prove it to others. On Larry's show it was stated "Could you trust a juror who rendered a guilty verdict with the statement, "I can't prove he did it with evidence, but I just have a gut feeling". You know, sometimes your guts are right. We pick up our story about October first of 1990. At this time parents had renewed their efforts to look for another newer house to live in, after formerly deciding they would NOT move. This puzzled me slightly at the time why the change in heart. But by mid October they had actually bought a house. They had been flapping their gums for decates but now that they are both long retired, they move. On the radio about this time on Dr. Demento they were actually playing songs AGAINST the coming war in Iraq, such as "Must we be the policemen of the world?" There was also a track about "running out of ozone hole patches". About the first of November a lot of people, neighbors that David was friends with moved out of the apartment complex. He later learned it's because rents had been hiked. David was concerned about the economy with the coming war with the Fourth most power army in the world, the Republican guard. People were predicting our troops would be slaughtered wholesale and ten thousand body bags had been ordered. David was also worried about gasoline prices which he feared under a worst case scenario might rise as high as three dollars a gallon. It was news like this that prompted him to sell his car in late January for a good price. David had been taking an ROP course in Lotus 123 and the day he was to take his final, his car wouldn't start. The battery was dead and he went to Joe and Kathy to borrow jumper cables but they wern't there. In a panic and runing out of time he called his Sister in law for a ride to ROP because it had been sporadically raining this day. She refused and he ended up taking the bus and praying for a break in the storm, which he got. He then learned that he would not be getting the employment from ROP that he had been promised. He saw the hand writing on the wall. He hadn't worked in over six months and he knew his bank account, once large, was now in jeapordy. In late December he called up Jim Cooper, which turned out to be the last time he would ever talk to him. He thought Jim might know someone who wanted to buy his car. He put a for sale sign on it and continued in ROP in Word Perfect but someone there saw the sign. In mid February one overcast day he was feeling low and blue because his church pastor, who was to be installed that afternoon, had given a totally awfully sermon. He called up an old friend named Linda, who had recently gotten married to a guy who turned out to be a religious asshole. But Linda got a bad case of PMS or something talking to David and taking offence to everything David said. A thirteen year relationship was flushed down the toilet and came to an end with that phone call.

OK, we're doing a "bluebird" cut here. This is going to go way too long. I'd like to close however on just this one example. As you know we said that democracy is a good thing. And democracy involves dialog. Jefferson and Madison believed in an informed, involved citizenry. When David's father saw David in late November or so and David mentioned the church letter that stated they had found a Pastor, when David's Dad talked about he got a glint in his eye and a certain lilt in his voice. David had the overwhelming feeling his Dad "knew something". David said, "Oh you don't mean the fat lady, to you?" The Dad was non commital. Well, "The fat lady has song" and it was bed time for democracy at his local church. On December 9th. the Pastoral candidate gave a sermon on the subject of "Doubt". It was the last time he would ever preach on that subject. This man had no tollerance for doubt and just as little for any "dialog" in general on any relivant subject. They had a rather quick discussion afterwards. Then they took a vote. David voted to approve the Pastor, but had he to do it over again, there is no vote with which he would disagree with more. That vote was a mistake. The pastor was elected with only one dissenting Vote in the whole congragation and I don't know who it is, but I'd like to shake his or her hand. After this he went to lunch with his parents to Howard Johnsons and his Dad complained that smoke from the smoking section was wafting over into their area, and David found his Dad's remarks annoying.

We need to cherish the times when we have power like being a juror doing void deor, or whatever. That's a time when you can tell the whole Court System to fuck off if you want to and not only will you not be frowned upon, you will be doing your civic duty. Give your politicians a hard time BEFORE they are elected and harrass them with letters and phone calls and question. They will never be as responsive after the election as before. In like mannor young girls should cherish the time in their lives when they are virgins. The minute they give it away their price goes down. Any leverage you have with a boy you have is Before you consent to having sex. I think more of us need to be political virgins and stop being political whores. (Selah)

Not Quite Ready for Prime Time

One thing not yet ready for prime time is this weather. It's been overcast all day, which is kind of normal for this time of day around here. The day we have the most perfect picture postcard weather is January first, in case you haven't figured that out. God is working with the chamber of commerce. Someone else not ready for prime time is this Deeppak Chakra person or whatever his name is, who is a Bhudist and was on the Mr. KABC show last week. I'm not quite sure if Bhudisum is a religion that's ready for Prime time the way Christianity is. Christianity is a religion that's been primping for the camera for sixty years. But even though Bhudisum has some interesting come-ons, such as the alledged ability to know the exact date and hour of your own death, I'm not sure whether it's a phenominum that's predictable. This KTLK guest was talking about controling your metabolic rate and slowing it way down. This is a valuable comodity. And of course some Bhudists believe in healing or reallocating the body's energy. Apparently some of them even believe in a class of psychic phenomina where two events happen at the same time separated by space to two different people. Two people can have an identical thought. (That seems to happen a lot with inventors) Or a baby can cry in one place and its mother in another local can suddenly begin lactating. Of course we all know the fantassy Jesus is ready for prime time. The religion of Joel Olsteen is ready for prime time. He says God is working always behind the scenes on your behalf even though you don't realize it. The only thing that can hinder God is youre lack of belief. But assuming the Jesus Christ of 640 KFI is anything like the real Jesus (a dubious assumption) then Jesus needs a lot of image work. We all know how Ronald Reagan's diaries were made public this week. They are just "perfect". Never a thought misgiven. He's always thinking of others and how his actions will benefit this country. I don't even think my prayers are THAT holy. But Jesus on the other hand says that all Hatred stems from Selfishness and thinking that you Deserve something that you don't. If Jesus has an image problem is that he may be perceived as too self obcessed. He makes remarks like "All devine authority is ceeded in me". Gene Scott has as much as said that of all the religion's founders, from Mohamed, to Confucious, to Bhudda, - - the one who is the most self obcessed and egotistical is Jesus. The thing is hatred is not just selfish. Hatred serves evil. People are so evil they are almost willing to inconvienience themselves that Evil may prosper. Look at the people in government or big corporate heads of lobbyests. Look at the typical mass murderor on a soap opera. They don't just commit "inadvertant" evil in the process of looking out for numero uno, they make evil a practiced art. They have the method down.

Tony Blair has stepped down as Prime Minester of Brittain as of last week. He was in office ten years. I thought it was more like fourteen. I thought it got in office right after Clinton did and that people said "He's just like Clinton. He's the new kind of politician". Jimmy Carter spoke his mind today about Tony Blair saying that his worst legasy was his support of the Iraq War. Perhaps his epitaf is that he was George Bush's lap dog. Now that he's gone it seems the Brittish government is getting a little more sense. Tony Blair was from labor but you'd never know it. They say France has elected a pro US leader. We'll have to see how that one pans out.

I'm not sure whether Google's new format is ready for prime time. They have changed all their labelling around and there is stuff in that "Google options" section they don't have any more and there are the Web aids that explained a lot of stuff and features. But if you ring up Desktop you get the old format, which is more conforting and fermiliar to some.

One story not quite ready for Prime Time was this testimony before congress last week from the deputy acting Attorney General during John Ashkroft's illness, when he was in the hospital suffering from pancreatitus as a complication after having his spleen removed. And he and his deputy were both pressed to sign off on some dubious documents that would violate the Civil Liberties of us all. Both of them refused to agree to that. The thing is I'm not sure where this story is headed. Could it somehow be used as more evidence for impeachment? We have been hearing of a growing anti Bush tide in congress both as to the Iraq War and perhaps sentament for impeachment. But it's just too early to say. Wel'll have to wait for more information.

This is Sunday May 20, 2007 mid day on an overcast day. Leo Le Port yesterday was talking about cordless phones and how they try and “cheat” you by “updating” you to a 2.4 gigahertz phone from a 900 mhz phone. The range is only about one third for the transmission power. They say they’ve made the move to 2.4 gigs because that area of the electronic spectrum is not regulated by the federal government. It’s almost out of the UHF band and into SHF or microwave band, which starts at 3.0 gigs if you trust the old electronics books. My phone has great range. I told Bill with my phone you can go out into the hall. Actually you can go all the way down to the end of the hall all the way to the elevator and be talking. I’d like to see a 2.4 gig phone do that. Yesterday and today Leo Le Port opened his show by saying that Microsoft was thinking of suing not only LINUX, but all of LINUX’s users for violating 235 Microsoft patents. Microsoft likes to create a climate of fear. The last time I heard you couldn’t copyright something that was free. I’ve said I wouldn’t mind not copyrighting my material but let others use it. But this would be leagelly unwise. Because if you put it out there “for free” apparently others can grab your material and copyrighting it, so that you are barred from using your own material. If you will remember in “Pictures at an Exposition” by ELP the song “The Nutrocker” was attributed to Bee Bumble & the Stingers c. 1961. What about Tsychosky. He’s the one who wrote the tune in the first place.

On Chris Matthews they were again talking about Michal Bloomberg and Chuck Hagel teaming up for a third party ticket. The one woman was in favor of the idea but the men were against it. Ross Perot was at one time in mid 1992 in first place in the running and Bill Clinton was in third place. I don’t think there’s anything inherently obsacene about merely being rich. It all how you use your wealth. If Michal Bloomberg is against the War, I think he and Hagel would make a powerful independent ticket.

As to this Immigration bill now on “This Week” they are saying the bill has little chance of passage because agreement is too fragile. But I might say a word to give heart to people on the right. It’s no picnic to become a citizen but a process they say will take over a decade. But the thing is it’s kind of like the Nazis registering the Jews. If the government knows about you it has more control over you. And we can have more “control” over all these people that are taking our low wage paying jobs. And if you refuse to “come out of the shadows” then aren’t you STILL an “illeagel”?

Reme wanted to have another “party” tonight, but I mentioned perhaps we should pick an evening that wasn’t so chily. I knocked on Raymond’s door and he gave me a free coffee with the promise I’d let him check out the internet is something came up.

At eight was Dateline. They had a rerun of this murder case where this overbearing husband beats and threatens and intimidates his wife repeatedly and said under no circumstances would he “allow” her to get a divorce. She got one anyhow. He was a famous, well respected man. But according to their middle son Elijah, “Felix” had a dark side. The other two sons, Adam and Gabreal sided with their dead father in the court case. They thought that the mother was having psychotic delusions. If this is so they apparently are not saying she should cop an insanity plea. She wasn’t that psychotic, I guess.. According to the woman, when she came to clear out her stuff after the divorce that he grabbed her and threatened her with a knife and she was thinking “OK this is it; I’m going to lose my life”, so she killed him in what to me seems a clear case of self defence. That’s how I see it. The Oakland didn’t entirely agree.

I had a dream last night this one Jewish organization with a campus and a bunch of temples around had made the announcement that this rather Indian looking guy was the new messiah and would become known to the world when he came to rule in the year 2021. [Pete Richards] and Mom and I went to one of their evening church services and we saw him sitting over there. I kept saying as the speaker spoke “This is blasphemous” “That’s blasphamus” and “If the world became generally of this guy’s aims, they’d kill him”. Mom had gone there because she was “looking for something new”. [Pete Richards] had come because he was doing some research for a college paper and thought it best to “keep an open mind” and not make quick judgements. I asked Mom why Dad wasn't here and she said, "If he knew I were here 9the knowledge) world kill him". Oddly a lot of people were wearing these ceremonial robes and I was wearing one, but I had no underwear on and naturally felt exposed, and I said “maybe I should go to the car to get my pants” but they said “the service has already started”. At one point I wandered around the building before the service was over and came across a class of young people being taught and I sat down and was thinking if my robe accidently opened all thest twelve year old girls would think I was a pervert. There was another day when we went to some place in Yorba Linda or something which had an active Jewish ghetto. (in this dream) I remember wandering around some gym lockers and showers and a bunch of us were in this multi floor old warehouse looking for something with bare light bulbs for light and I thought “if all the lights went out it would sure be scary in here”. But they taught that their man was Jesus and that he was coming officially to rule the world in the year 2021. Interesting.

This is an updated version. For you trivia buffs, I clipped off the last sentense of the last paragraph from what was written in Word. Guess what I had for lunch today. I have a theory why that woman denied killing her husband under initial police questioning. In her mind she didn't. In her mind she was a victim of a horrible trauma she only wanted to forget. I have another theory. Whatever jail time she does, it's worth it just to know he's dead.

In the morning I had Joel Olsteen on. He was talking about how God orchestrates behind the scenes and God is acting in our lives even when we don’t think he is. But God can’t act unless we “believe”. They did not open the dining room doors till 7:24, which people weren’t too happy with. We had waffles and bacon for breakfast. I waited till it was going on ten to eight for a second cup of coffee but never got one. Meet the Press was on at eight and they had Chris Dodd and Newt Gingrinch on debating the idea of troop withdrawal. Newt likened this Bush Iraq war to the American Revolution.

I went out to the donut shop before nine for a large coffee. One Beatles station featured Apple Corps in 1968 and the other station had past two of their Wings thing. In 1974 Paul worked on the Mick Mc Gear album. “Junior’s Farm” had “Jeff” a drummer not used in any other studio session. There were four tracks recorded in Nashville by Wings in 1974 but only two were released. Their “horns” section became a permanent part of the band. The Mc Culloch’s are not related to each other KLOS had two songs from Paul’s latest album plus “You Can Lead a Horse to Water” and “Choose Love” and the rocky version of “I’m Losing You” by Lennon. At ten I caught “This Week” on station 7.2. They had a Nancy Palosi interview. After this they had the usual roundtable, with Leo Le Port on at eleven, and now.

Out From the Shadows

At long last they finally announced a comprehensive immigration bill that will enable those seeking honist work to come out from the shadows and be counted legally, and at the same time beefing up controls against illegal aliens who choose not to play by our rules. There are reasonable steps involved in becomming citizens of the United States and this bill sets aliens on the right path. Indications seem to be the President will sign this bill. They had a bunch of senaters on ch. 4.2 saying what a great bill this was and how everyone arrived at a concencus. This would be the most productive and major piece of legeslation passed by congress in a long time. It should give the new aliens a respectable sense of pride in the country they hope to become citizens of.

When Google came up it didn't have the usual tags such as image and groups and the like as it usually did and I just had to enter the URL directly into the address bar. Sometimes they don't ask me for my password these days but most of the time they do.

Jerry Folwell died a few days ago as you know, of heart failure or something while working in his office after breakfast. He was discovered hours later and already dead. I guess a salute is in order. "Good night, sweet prince, and may a thousand angels sing thee to thy rest". Of course Folwell formed the Moral Majority in 1979. I remember it as being right after the Howard Jarvis tax revolt here in California. He was instramental in getting Ronald Reagan elected president in 1980, more so than my book. I had that as a prayer and a hope that sales of my prophecy book would help elect Ronald Reagan. Of course by 1984 I felt that Reagan had served his usefullness and switched alligence to Mondale. Thom Hartman believes that Jerry Folwell had a genuine experiance with Christ a long time ago when he formed Thomas Row baptist church in 1956, but that "Folwell ran out of God's words a long time ago. Some people such as Randi Rhodes are so wrapped up in their hatred of Folwell they'll even defend that crook Jim Bakker and his homosexual escapades in the showers with teenage boys. My theory is that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Gene Scott spoke as Randi did in saying that Folwell was treacherous and "stole" the minestry from Bakker. I say that whatever Gene Scott says I 'll believe the opposit. Gene Scott is such a crook I don't want to agree anything he says. I don't agree with a lot of the stuff Folwell said, but I'm not bothered by it the way some people are. I think in general Folwell was a devout man who was a force for good.

I think this program may have encountered a virus but it seems to be lifting now. Sometimes these "slow down" viruses get worse and worst till your computer just freezes alltogether. OK I think we can continue now. Things seem to be working.

There is debate in Isrial these days about the War they conducted last summer against Syria and Lebanon and Hez Ballah, and also in Gaza. I say the good thing about Isrial is that it is a democracy and they do allow dessent unlike most other mideast countries. Considering who our president is there might just be more room for dissent in Isrial than in the good old U S of A. Jimmy Carter wrote a book last year claiming that Isrial practiced atartite against Palestinians in the occupied zone. They are trying to build a wall that will separate Palestinians and make interraction difficult. I was going to borrow that book from my Mom sometime. As I recall she did not regard it as a particularly enjoyable book. If I were President I'd try and maintain closser ties with Isrial than George Bush is. I'm not the kind of guy who is going to let a bunch of Islamic extremists pick whom I have dealings with. What I would also do as president is to get back in touch with the comon people of Iraq, who just want to live their lives peacefully and not be cought in the middle of a Civil War fought by extremists on both sides. In terms of the recent democratic vote to try and withdraw US troops my motto is that in a sense "the worst we can expect" had already happened, so what are we sweating? There are some who say that the Shiites will comit genocide against the Sunis is we leave. I just don't believe that will happen and the dividends of our lowering of hostilities just might please the vast majority.

I would like to announce that I am no longer supporting the psychic Sylvia Browne, because of the things she said on the Montell Williams show the other day. She claimed that she was a believer in Christ consciousness, but Jesus Christ tought that the mortal dead were just that- - dead, and that the only people in that "other realm" are either Angels or demons. If they are angels they won't call attention to themselves but simply set about doing the Lord's work. After all angels have no egoes. As Sylvia herself points out the Angels don't even have names. Jesus said that children have guardian angels but most people don't ever meet them. If the dead are demonic then in Jesus' words they need to be driven out by a superior spiritual energy, whom Jesus analogises as "The strong man of the house". Even Ron Hubbard would agree that you don't dialog with a demon but you give an order and stand your ground. You don't practice "psychology" on them or try to reason with them. If their spiritual energy is greater than yours your best option is to get a spiritual fource that's stronger on your side. Sylvia kept talking about the holy spirit and Christ consciousness. I really don't think the mortal dead are even conscious. It's pretty well established in church doctrine that we can't communacate with them if they were. I really don't think that "The veil between life and death is getting thinner".

I disagree with Thom Hartman on the subject of "Hate crimes". I've read the World Net Daily stuff and basically what they're into is Political Correctness on a leagelly enfourced scale. You in essence can be jailed for, for instance, delivering a church sermon against homosexuality or affirmitive action. We don't need this. But what's bad for the goose is also bad for the gander. I also don't go for these "terrorisum" laws against animal activists or other practicioners in civil disobediance, where the actual laws they have broken are minor to neglegeble. I don't believe you can be prosecuted for "making someone else afraid of what you might do". The fear is their own psychological problem. People have a right to free speech and "endangering the future profits of a corporation" is not a prosecutable crime here. That's the way I see it. In general I believe in going for the outward criminal act and not what you THINK their motive might be.

I heard Thom Hartman talk about his cat, Higgins, and how it was mistreated as a kitten. As you know the Bosc house cat, Bones has always had an agressive personality that likes to bite as well as scratch. Bobby Hayden is fond of saying "Bones was fed gun powder as a kitten to make it mean". The cat was supposidly picked out by Bobby's brother "Pike", but it was Jim Cooper who came up the name Bones, for the seven white spots on a black cat. The cat is "hydro-philic" rather than "hydro-phobiac" the way most cats are, and Bones not only came when you called him but would sometimes follow you walking to the store. But it's funny the way some people are bothered by agressive alpha male cats, that seem to have almost dog like traits. They got the cat on one Saturday evening in late May 1982 after Miniature Golfing. It was either the Saturday before or right after a dance that was held in the Bosc house in late May. I remember it because it was already a chily evening and they had the screen door open and the fan on.

Condeliza Rice is now having talks with Vlatamir Putin of Russia. It seems to me if we're going to use our CIA for anything, we should use it to get this guy out of power. He's growing more dangerous by the day and I don't think he represents the Russian people, the way he's been canceling elections. The old KGB wouldn't have hesitated to use their power against us in the old days, if they had been able. But we all wish Secretary Rice all the luck in her talks. Secretary Rice is an adept, intelligent and articulate woman.

According to KCET, the Nazis wern't pursuing production of an atomic bomb after all. We thought because they wanted to get their hands on heavy water they had an atomic bomb in mind because heavy water slows down newtrons "without absorbing them" which increases their efficiency in a reactor. But in 1942 the US made a decision to go full speed ahead on the Manhatton project whereas the Nazis, thinking the war would be less than two years, thought that research progress wouldn't come fast enough and that it was best to put their energies into other areas, such as the V2 rocket. Brittain thought no cost would be too high to stop the Nazis from getting the bomb and even if lives were lost, it had to be done.

I just wanted to complement our residence on tonight's chicken Alfredo. It was well prepaired and when they brought the seconds tray around our side of the room didn't get up and rush over there like their side did the other day when it came down our row first. And for the first time in a while, the second portion was actually quite generous. In other news I beat Marcus in today's chess game. I came out of the gate strong and agressive and in general kept him on the defencive most of the game. That's my usual style of chess, in games I win.

Damage Control

I hope everyone had a nice Yom Kippur. It is now seven o five and the holiday is passed. For breakfast this morning we actually had bagels with creame cheese, as well as applesauce. I suppose the applesauce stands for the spiritual fall of man or something. I also had rice krispies (if those monks eat it it must be a spiritual food) and orange juice and coffee and assorted medication.

I have previous to now never included a photograph in a blog on the belief that I might somehow be comitting some copyright violation. I attempted a photograph just a few minutes ago and it wouldn't print, so most likely I have to put it in some h t t p format or something.

The Bush Adminestration is in full fledged damage control by now. Of course Bob Woodward's book comes out officially today. In it Andy Card and Laura Bush told the President that Donald Rumsfeld had to go. Of course he never will. It's generally agreed that the President has some sort of Messiah complex when it comes to the Iraq war. Of course the criticisum of the President is that he ignored the advice of both the C I A and the military generals to conduct the war. In the first two books of Woodward he highlighted the unity of the inner Bush core team whereas in this one he highlighted the differences. Of course many of us knew that the President was lying to us about the progress of the War; this book just made it official. I just hope all the people who have listened to the news reports actually go out and buy the book. They had an exerpt of it on Google one evening but the next day it wasn't there.

There is also news that hasn't been herolded about Abramoff. He was that Republican who got into trouble a couple of months ago and to listen to Rush Limbaugh, you'd have thought he was a democrat. They say that he met with Karl Rove nine different times and met with White House officials over a hundred times. It shouldn't surprise anyone how corrupt this adminestration is. It remains to be seen whether any of the Perks that Abramoff got were illegal. Susan somebody used to work for Abramoff but then transferred to the White House.

Last Friday Bush signed into the law something involving the right to have U S citizens declaired "enemy combattents" to withdraw the right of Habious Corpus- - meaning they no longer have the right to see the body of evedence against them or confront the facts of the case.

Of course Mark Fowley has probably done more damage to the Republican Party with his internet sexual flirtations (and undoubtedly more than that) with teenage boys working at Pages. For one thing psychologists say that if you yourself are sexually molested it's more likely you'll grow up to be a sexual pervert. I've never fully understood the science behind this statement but I'll take it on face value. Of course the Republican congressmen have been doing a cover up job on Mark for at least five years since the class of 2001 was warned about Mark Fowley's activities. Randy Rhodes says the denocrats were too nice to use these charges against him choosing to believe the man was merely a homosexual, and not a pervert.

Of course they have medication for everything and I have no doubt that one day they'll find the "gay" gene. They've analyzed brain size and activity in homosexuals and seen that homosexual brains opperate differently. Now they have a new electrode stimulation of "Area 25" in the brain of a woman on Sixty Minutes. The opperation on her was only partially successful, but they've had more success with others. Of course with that story about people watching and making videos of people beating up homeless people I happened to think of rogue cops.

Some things fall of their own weight. As Mr. Spock says on Startrek, "I do not have to see the hammer hit the ground to know that it in fact fell" once he drops it. Who can explain the rise in violence we've been seeing on our TV lately? We've had at least three of these school shootings lately and crimes of violence are no showing a rise after a long declining trend since 1993. Who can explain it? People have the feeling our governmental processes have broken down.

The Death Of The Anti War Protestor

"Things aren't like they used to be" is a comon saying these days. But in a lot of cases the changes aren't for the better or more healthy for society at large. Randy Rhodes points out that war coverage is not what it was forty years ago with Walter Cronkite as "The most trusted man in America" doing the news. Back then they showed troups slogging through the mud. They showed shells exploding and men dying, and they showed the caskets being loaded up. Apparently now if a photographer so much as photographs caskets being loaded up he is immediately fired. They used to say "War is Hell", but today they say "War is a yawner". Perhaps it's no coincidence that it's the democrats who are the ones pushing to reinstate the draft, even if there reasoning is a little backwards. Today's war protestors aren't emotional or fanatic or insistant. This is because the average American has no stake in the outcome in the war. If the eighties was the Me generation, then this "I Me Mine" philosophy has transferred on into adulthood. People say "It's not my kid on the front" and they go on and vote for Bush and sleep well at night. Of course the news isn't even covering war protestors and if they do it's often with a more symical slant. But there are protests going on all the time. I'll say it again. If the Roman Empire had our press the Christians would never have come to power because nobody would ever know about the martyred deaths of thousands. But people stage small protests of offices of politicians and stuff all the time and they think they are acting for posterity when in all probably the only one who sees them is God, because God sees everything.

Now there is news about the war itself. The Iraqi citizens want the US to leave their country. But the Iraqis also believe other things. They hate the nut case leader of Iran, and they don't trust the Talliban and have little or no regard for Osama Bin Laden. The choice here seems obvious. We should get out like Bush told the American people. He said, "When the Iraqis stand up we will stand down". Instead all we are hearing now is that the army is stretched thin and we just might have to make a choice between extending the Iraq war five more years and reinstituting the draft. Were I the president I would have given this Draft ultamatum before this. Experts have told us that the Armed Forces just can't keep on the way they are going, delaying leaves and extending tours of duty. If the Iraqis say they are willing and able to pick up the fighting themselves why don't we just let them? I suspect the answer to that question is that the US is not in Iraq to win, but to run up war profits for Haliburten and other Bush controled corporations. Larry Elder used to always talk about how we are "At War". But if this were the equivelant of World War II we would be about up to Christmas of 1946 by now, when the War was long over and people were moving on to other activities like getting married. Let the Iraqis do what we trained them to do. It takes twelve weeks to train a raw recruit into an efficient, square head, fast talking killing machine. Certainly there is time to have trained an entire young generation by now in Iraq to pick up arms and defend their own country. Bush will find that the Iraq War is no longer a winning political issue for him.

Certain laws as you know can get out of hand. You know how I dislike these broad smoking bans that seem to apply everywhere. In terms of environmental laws I think we have to distinguish between laws that are for the welfare of humans and those that are pot forth by nut jobs, or nearly so. They say you cant ride motorcycles in the desert because you might disturb an Indian petrogliff that's been there thousands of years. You can't go ahead with a real estate development because it might harm the kangeroo rat. Now they are taking their laws into the kitchen. In New York they want to ban all trans-fatty acids. A few years ago they wanted to ban butter and use only margerine. Now they want to ban margerin because it's a trans-fatty acid and as such is unhealthy. They now say trans-fats are worse than saturated fats. Of course I don't know if they'd be saying that if all the chefs hadn't switched from saturated fat to trans-fat to begin with. Such a trans-fat ban would cause chaos in the cooking industry. I think there are child welfare laws that probably go too far. Have they outlawed spanking yet? If we go too far with this children's rights business we will destroy the American family, and I guess that's kind of the point, isn't it. To turn your kids into empowered monsters that tattle on their parents for the vaguest of infractions, such as smoking in their presence. Sometimes it's not our own government that holds the whip but an alien religion, like the Moslems. This Van Gogh guy in Holland that was murdered by "islamo-fasciests" (there, I used the word) was an Artist who used his art to protest Islamic and women's issues. Nowdays you can't even draw an Arab with a turbin with a bomb in it without getting yourself in trouble with these Islamo-fasciests. Now there is apparently some Mozart opera they want to ban because it puts Islam and other religions in a bad light. My message to the Moslems is "Exercise your freedom of religion, but don't give restrictions on my civil liberties or freedom of action". I guess libertarians like Larry Elder have long been concernet about all the EEOC laws or whatever that agency is that insures "safe" working conditions. I'm for safe working conditions of course, but sometimes government beaurocrats can be obtrusive to employers, and I appreciate that. In terms of the environment I guess my philosophy is "If it's going to end up affecting me personally, then I want something done about it". Wetlands in Louisiana can affect the climate and buffer storms, so they are a good thing. Clear cutting forrests erodes the soil and basically detracts from my view as well as wipes out the source of what you're "harvesting". Clear cutting: BAD. I am against chemical pollution because they cause deseases and cancer and such. But I guess if you were enacting laws to preserve the monarch butterfly or the spotted moth or whatever, I guess I'd be a little less concerned. Environmental impact studies cut two ways. There is the natural environment but there is also the business environment and people to people concerns. If you're going to ban my Saturday night barbecue, you better have a pretty darn good reason.

Rush Limbaugh has pointed out that certain forms of pollution nature offends a lot worse than any human could. If you watched Nova the other night you know that there was a spike in the level of sulphur dioxide that was twenty times worse than the worst smoggy day in the most smoggy city in the world. Yes, there are things called "super valcanoes" and these things are more "super" than you can imagine. They are a thousand times more deadly than valcanoes we see today. I guess Mt. Pinotubo was one of these. Three sets of researchers each came to the independant conclusion that a gigantic valcano exploded in Southeast Asia 75 thousand years ago, and drove down the temperature of sea water world wide ten degrees and increased the incidence of Oxygen 18, an isotope of normal oxygen that occurs in colder waters. Now they say that Yellowstone National Park is a powder keg ready to blow at any moment, like say the next forty thousand years. (In palentological time that isn't much) It could be that the eruption of the whole valley of Yellowstone National park could inilate the inhabitants of this Country and have world wide consequences. They say there are fine silicate particles in the valcanic ash that have the effect of finely ground glass on your lungs, should you breathe it. I only tell you this because Rush does have a point. Nature has the potential of being more violent than man with all of his devices yet invented can be. I would tell you to have a little fear of God but whether you are afraid or not that isn't going to affect whether or not it will happen. Sometimes we humans can't see the forrest for the trees. It could be that at times we seek to micro-manage the environment, and in the process screw up a lot of people's lives and routines, when in the end something like the eruption of Yellowstone National Park, blanking the world with ash and creating a new ice age that will last far beyond when the last ash has settled- - will get us. You know the ice age will last a long time because once there's all that snow on the ground and in the air it reflects sunlight and heat back out into space, keeping the Planet super chilled for a long time. Thirty years ago people were saying it was a new ice age that would get us.

Now It's Official

All this time I thought that the net effect of our troops being in Iraq was positive. I thought if we left right now we will have done net good and could be proud of ourselves. I utterly cringed at the notion put forth by John Kerry and other Democrats that things were worse in Iraq now. How could things be worse with a genocidal maniac out of the way? Well it turns out there's an official report that the government tried to keep secret that states clearly that in fact our efforts have actually made things worse in Iraq than they were before and that our presence has stimulated terrorist recruitment. Perhaps some of you Elderados can tell me how Larry Elder handled this upsetting news? After a while it has not to even matter with these people. Now the facts have ceased to mean anything and all that matters now is Not Losing the Argument. (Selah)
WHO'S GOT THE BALLS - BILL CLINTON OR CHRIS MATTHEWS?
Chris Matthews is getting so conservative they're going to have to start putting Rush Limbaugh on their pannel. Their explanation for all the protests and violence in the Mideast now is saying "They really don't hate America. They love America and envy us and want to come here. The people they're really mad at are their own repressive governments but they know they'll be killed if they protest them so they do the next best thing and protest Us". If any of this is true then how come they don't praist their own government in Iraq and praise the United States for getting rid of Saddam Hussein and letting democracy flurish? Congaliza Rice says she believes in the best in human nature and that the world yearns to be free. This piece on Sixty Minutes was another of those stock puff pieces. But Chris Matthews went on to attack Bill Clinton. He attacked him because the people of the world loved him and praised his actions. They went on to say on that show, "Bill Clinton has it easy. He doesn't know what it's like. He's not the President and doesn't have to bear all that responsability. He can take the easy road". These people seem to forget that Bill Clinton actually was president for eight years. Bill Clinton the next morning took on FOX news. He wasn't going to let that interviewer stand his ground. As Randy Rhodes put it- - he knew he was in for a personal attack and stood armed and ready to defend himself. "You people have two sets of questions. One for me and one for the rest of your conservative friends". Clinton soundly and surely laid to rest all this speculation about how his adminestration was soft on terrorism. I would want Bill Clinton defending me if I were ever accused unjustly, as Christians like to do by inference a lot of the time with me.

The Elderados and the rest of the right have undergone a complete credibility melt-down. If you look at the straight facts the democrats stack up better every time. When Clinton was going after Bin Laden in 1998 everyone called it "Monica's War" and "Wag the Dog". When the Cole was bombed in late 2000 Bill Clinton had in place plans to go after Bin Laden. Bush scrapped those plans and didn't want to hear about terrirism. He referred to going after these people as "Swatting flies". As you Woodward fans know, all George Bush cared about from day one is going to war in Iraq. Iraq was a constant obcession of this president. After "Black Hawk Down" it was actually Republicans in the house of representatives that pounded the plodium and demanded that we withdraw our troops from Samalia. Rush referred to the opperation as "Meals on Wheels" and said the only real purpose of the military was to kill people and smash things. Larry Elder has attacked our presence both in Kosevo and Bosnia, and also in Sudan, should we decide to go there to prevent genocide. According to Larry Elder the perpous of war isn't to promote humanitarian goals. (I guess it's to burn villages and rape and kill women and children like we did in Viet Nam) Two prominent people were either fired or demoted who were anti terror experts in the Clinton Adminestration. One of them was formerly knows as the terrorism tzar. The Democrats are reminding us now that if we had stayed in Afghanistan we would have captured Bin Laden within the year. Some have charged that the republicans "space" the release of key news events to when they need a sudden boost in the polls. These people keep saying Bush is up in the polls. With Chris Matthews, Sixty Minutes, and ABC with their movie singing the Republicans praises, stranger things have happened. If they want to pull a massive recessitation job on the Bush adminestration they'll have to live with it.

I had a strange dream last night. I dreamed that in the latest StarTrek movie a bunch of our side went to war against a neighboring planet. But the enemy had some frightful new device that just melted people and ships like wax. But they wanted to keep their weapon secret lest we find out about it and perhaps steal it and investigate it and find out how it works. So what they did was convince the world that Star Fleet's excellent Captains had suddenly screwed up making a lot of stupid and blunderous military decisions thus tarnishing their reputations now that they were dead. In this way the truth was hidden from us. But for some reason I came out of the theater thinking "Maybe that wasn't the REAL Star Trek movie that we came to see but some kind of givernment knock-off, showing us what they wanted us to see".

I don't "Have it in for the Bush Adminestration". I'd like to see them do something smart for once. But at the same time I am "evolving" on other issues. According to a program today- - the middle class has only rarely been a major factor in world civilization history. Those times that the middle class has been a major factor, society had advanced culturally. The goal of conservatives beginning with Reagan is to return the middle class we have had in this country back more to a status of continuing poverty. Allan Greenspan has admitted that his goal is to see the unemployment rate as high as possible. These conservatives "historically" according to Al Frankin, have been against Social Mobility. These people are "undeserving" in the eyes of the rich. Classic conservatives believe in semi rigid classes of rich and poor. Various Democratic Presidents have tried to level the playing field so that the little guy gets a chance but now it's a rigged crap game. The goal of federal money managers is always to keep the worker insecure in his job and drive down the wage base and to maximize corporate profits. On the subject of the City of New Orleans there are people like the mayer who want to keep New Orleans a "chocolate city". It's amazing how whites are intimidated by that phrase. But what do rich whites want to do? They say the storm did everyone a favor and now they can clear out the ghettos and put up fancy developments for the rich to boost the tax base. Meanwhile places like Houston may not be as tollerant of Blacks as was their native crascent city. Changing subjects again, there is some government study that says cars should get forty miles to the gallon on the highway and how this would go a long way to solving our energy problems. As to the vanishing Polar Bear due to a diminished winter hunting season, I imagine Rush Limbaugh might just way "Well, the Polar Bear like the rest of us is just going to have to evolve like the rest of nature- - and adjust its habbits to today's Realities". That's what the American worker needs to do. He has to "adjust" himself to the reality of not affording things that his parents had afforded when they were his age. We'll just see if things can't work out better than that.

The Tripple Witching Hour

. This is Friday September 22, 2006 and fall officially begins at 9:03 our time or 12:03 or something east coast time. As you know it’s kind of a triple witching hour. Today is the start of the holy month Romadon in the Moslem calendar, and tonight at sunset is the start of Rosh Hashana. I imagine it’s also a new moon. Of course Romadon and Rosh Hashana would start together about one twelfth of 33 year cycle. In the news we learn that that Chavez guy from Venezuela was preaching at a church in Harlem yesterday, to many left wing applause. It seems the man actually believes in liberation theology, despite the fact that he is a communist. The President of Iran has continued to make anti U S statements and has met with American news reporters. This is the sort of thing that’s going to happen when a country like the US is dependant on foreign oil. We kind of have to learn to “take it”. Also in the news is the Jewishness of George Allan. His mother before she told him apparently said, “I hope you don’t end up hating me”. We already knew his mother was Tunesian. Allan has been rather defensive since he found out that he was part Jewish. Al Frankin was talking about this on his show today. The weather has been cooling off particularly today. They are starting to show maps of where the fall foliage is around the Great Lakes.

You know those three republican senators, John Mc Cain, John Warner, and Lindsey Graham, are three wooses. They’re the three little girls. “Three Little Maids” like the Gilbert and Sullivan play. Randy Rhodes spoke of Bush’s “Herem”. You know it has to be his personal Herem because there are no men there. Rusty Warren has more balls than this congress. You wonder what the hell the world is going to be like a year from now. A year ago I was still listening to Conservative talk radio and was inclined to defend George Bush about the hurricanes. When I see how far down hill things have slidden, it makes me wonder. When news of Abo Grave broke Bush indignently said he would get to the bottom of it all and how abuse has no place in POW camps. Now a year later thanks to the empty scrotum of the US congress, we are about to pass a law that gives the President the power to interperate the Geneva accords anyway he wants. But the bill still isn’t law yet. Randy Rhodes rightly protests that it’s just forty or so days before the congressional elections and why not let the American People decide what sort of tortore and interrogation rules we want to have, or not have. Apparently this session of congress is virtually out of time but the bill still isn’t law yet. The bill will have to go into conference and the Republican bill is worse. Apparently they gave the President everything he wanted. We need the Democrats to win both houses of congress so we can pass some decent legislation. And among the first bill I’d pass is a bill of centure against the President after a due amount of media spotlighted investigations.

The U S has gone from first to seventh in education among the world’s countries. But while the younger generation is the one getting smarter among most of the worlds emerging nations, it’s the old people, my generation, that has the brains and the college education in this country. They say 51% of the Canadian citizens have a college degree in that country. In this country the figure is 39%. And yet you can bet that figure was a whole lot lower in the thirties when “It’s A Wonderful Life” showed everybody with college degrees in a small town, as though it were the norm. Perhaps they thought it would be but now, seventy years later, only 39% of the people have college degrees. It is said that whereas in former times the govt. would pay for almost all a person’s education now that figure has dropped to below half. And it’s suggested that perhaps the Military stands to gain the most of this lack of education because poor people will have more of an incentive to join the military. Let Paul Simon write that on the wall. Well, a lot of things are going to change, and soon, with a new democratic congress.

When does a Crusade become an obcession? George Bush used to call this “War on Terror” (alias on Islam) a “Crusade” but then dropped the term under pressure. It could be said the Moslems are on a “Crusade” to hate Christianity, and the Pope. This didn’t used to be the case but we declaired War first. Apparently in an attempt to enlist Pakistan in our “Crusade” George Bush threatened “to bomb Pakistan back into the stone age is their leaders didn’t cooperate with our war plans”. I’ve heard roomers that for President Lincoln, winning the Civil War was kind of an obcession with him. Of course sometimes we obcess over things that aren’t rightly ours to obcess over, like with Philip Kiriacus on Days of our Lives. It’s a trite saying but true that those who refuse to learn the lessons of history are bound to repeat the mistakes. I think having a national crusade against an entire religion for this country is a mistake. Those people have already shown that they are more willing to die for their cause than we are for ours. World opinion means something. Even the Christian religion was “tried in the press”. If there were no press, nobody would even know or care about all the martyrs there were. This country could bomb the whole Islamic realm back to the stone age if we wanted to. What we are seeing now among Christians is the “Larry Elderization” of Christianity. Christianity is becoming more cruel and heartless, and yes, more “pragmatic”. It does things now that are “expedient”. Lots of people have commented on the fact that World Oppinion is no longer with the United States. How long can we continue to be one nation taking on the world? Maybe George Bush thinks he is doing what he is doing for the history books, like Abraham Lincoln did. Republicans including Larry Elder are now fond of pitching the Civil War in this country as a crusade to liberate the Black man, which it most certainly was not, as evidenced of what Lincoln himself said. He said “If I could win the war by freeing all of the slaves, I’d do that; If I could win the war by freeing none of the slaves, I ‘d do that. It could be that throughout history, War has been something imposed by the leaders, be they Knights Templar or the Christian Coalition, against the common people. Nobody believes Christianity stands for Peace any more. It never did. It was a Lie and now that Lie is so Exposed, it isn’t even funny. When and if we impeach George Bush we will be in fact impeaching Christianity. It’s the Christian Coalition, or whatever it’s called now, that’s on trial. Chaves says Bush is the devil. I say that God Himself is The Devil. Some say that when you fight your enemy you become like him. I say that when you and your enemy always to be implementing the same measures to accomplish their respective goals, those two enemies are becoming Alike. As a spiritual decendant of Martin Luther, this crusader is still at war with the Devil. But it’s the Devil of the Military Industrial Complex and all those obscene War Profits.

SOMETHING FOR EXTRA CREDIT

To take a psychic moment “time out” before we continue, I’d like to express my complaints to the Orion Federation that I haven’t been receiving any “News from the Front” lately. I think they want me to make my own karmic discoveries. Perhaps the same thing could be said of the software Sketch-up. My complaint against that is if you try to draw a five pointed star and you aren’t in the right “Dimension” the line goes all over the place even if you should draw it perfectly in your own limited perception realm. In Sketch you have the two dimensions you see and the one you don’t. And that one you don’t travels in an imaginary straight line from your eyes to the page and anything you draw could fall Anywhere along that continuoum and you don’t know where. I say this because this is kind of how it is with the psychic dimension. There are the three dimensions we see, and those two or three that elude our consciousness. Fish eye lenses portray straight lines as curved. But if you projected these images inside a dome and looked all around the dome, those lines would again look straight. In sketch they don’t “do” the curved line bit. Sketch looks at a “projection” of the world based on standing back and looking at a giant picture of Roger Waters. NO! Looking at a giant Wall. Since film is exposed on a flat surface logic dictates that photographs must be flat. When I do the optics, “Flat” is the only way that that it adds up. Sketch must agree. Their pictures assume a flat projection plane. What this means is that you are standing at an assumed distance from the “Wall” or whatever. Here if you see parallel horizontal straight lines, they are straight all the time. They travel out to infinity or when Hell freezes over. Whichever occurs first. But just as flat maps of the world are distorted at the poles- - they’re stretched in all directions. (Selah) When you are 45 degrees off plane either up or down or side to side, the image is stretched in that direction. If you are 45 degrees off plane you’re being stretched by the square root of two or 1.44 (144%) approximately. If you look sixty degrees off plane, you’re being stretched double. This “stretching” that occurs on World Maps and in Google sketches is a “necessary distortion” that occurs on paper to express a bigger truth. The awareness of this distortion, from lack of the psychic dimension- - is the Key to much Enlightenment. What you do in the Psychic dimension counts – whether you want it to or not. (Selah)

A Complete Credibility Meltdown

Well today is September 19th. In three days or so we will be entering the fall season. Thankfully the weather still feels like summer. But is it a season where we move out of the Summer of liberalisum into the Winter of conservatisum? Ask Michal Dukakis. He knows all about how polls can shift with the tides and times. They've been having these candidate debates on Meet the Press and after reviewing the Pennsylvania contest with Santaurum, and the Virginia contest with Allan, the contrast between democrat and republican is a little blurred in my mind. It's not all that obvious whom I should vote for. Allan had the "Macacca" statement, but his democratic has a problem with equal rights for women in the military and has made many statements over the years hostile to women. Bush himself did a major melt-down last Friday at the news conference. I don't even know why he has them any more. All he does is get up there in ramble like Captain Queeg or somebody, burrying himself in his own cliches. He long since has stopped responding to the reporters questions. Just call him Mister Tar Heel because his position on everything is intransigent. Torture is good - - and America is under attack. Today in his UN Speech it wasn't twenty seconds into his speech before he brings up the specter of 9 - 11. But rather than contrast those "dark days" with some new spirit of world unity and human enlightenment brought about by American flexibility- - - Bush trots out the same laundry list of issues and salutes all the countries where America has influence over their dictatorships. They say Bush is up over ten points in the polls. That's what the media tells us so I guess it has to be true. I haven't commented on that propaganda piece that ABC had on last week. Some would say it was fiction punctuated by a Presidential speech in the twilight zone. I myself thought it was a pretty good movie. I'm inclined to allow for a little artistic license to make a point, and I believe the point was made. Arabs are nuts and we people in America were woefully unprepared for what befell us. I think we're all much more atune and alert now and have our eyes open to little hints and cues that a person's conduct at the airport just isn't right. We need to learn from our mistakes, and I believe we have.

There's one thing I do hate and that is the rewriting of history. When I was a kid in the early sixties apparently some grammar school kids were being sent home with a copy of the Mayflower Compact, and the opening words are supposidly, "In the name of God". Some of the liberals on the school board thought it was a John Birch conspiracy to indoctrinate our kids or something with religion. The historic fact is that those people were much more God conscious than we are today. Jefferson was a diest, but then again, so is anyone who believes in Predestination. I'm a diest by that standard, and we've talked about that before. Religion is part of the very faboric of our society. To rid history books of its existance is lying to our kids. Of course there is supposidly a statue erected showing Franklin Roosevelt in a wheel chair. The thing "historically inacurate" about this is that throughout his life, Roosevelt scrupulously avoided being photographed in a wheel chair. But he was proud of his cigarette holder. Today they air brush the cigarette holder and draw in a wheel chair that wasn't there. Of course what do you think of this expungeing of all smoking scenes in Hanna Barbera cartoons? From Fred Flintstone to Tom and Jerry to Yogy and Booboo, smoking scenes are being air brushed so as to not offend the kiddies. I suppose there are people who want to put pants on the statue of David. I am also against these "politically correct phrases" such as homophobia. I wonder if the term homophobia is used in children's social study books? If so it's a sad day. There are things we Should be afraid of. I'd be afraid of rat poison if I thought it was in my food. Some history books are saying Thanksgiving is about giving thanks to the Indians, rather than to God. I couldn't believe that when I heard it. God is being expunged from our history books.

You know- - Senator Danforth or someone said there aren't enough moderates. I would like to step forth as a proud moderates. Rush says he's never seen a book of Famous Moderates in History. My guess if youre a tight rope walker, political ballance is a good thing. In Yoga ballance is seen as a good thing, along with the yin and yang in Taoisum. Moderates see things as they are and act on them, rather than as a slogan shouted accross a political aisle. Ken Galliger was talking about all the Hollywood Celebreties that speak out on political issues. I think people should speak out on political issues. My lament as a Christian was that the denomination I was in wouldn't take a stand on anything using the excause that "Christians are above that sort of thing". People, including actors and preachers have every right to speak out on an issue. What would you say? Do celebreties comprize perhaps 35% of all the voices in the media you hear on politics? What percentage of the population in the world is comprised by Hollywood Celebreties? Perhaps .00004% Perhaps less? Anyhow, Ken Galliger was upset at some statement Rosey O Donald made about the Christian right? I don't agree with anything Rosey says anyhow. If she were still on I'd never watch her. Everything she says annoys me. Of course now they have some movie that I didn't know was a documentary of an actual Cult led by Becky - so & so about some youth movement. I thought the movie was just another hollywood liberal parody they like to do. Believe me as an ex Christian I know the real thing from a fake hollywood production - and this was definitely a fake hollywood production. Of course now the Pope is expressing some of the truth about what Moslems are actually like. The pope quoted some leader from the Middle Ages. The proof of the truth of what the Pope said was demonstrated in the violence the Moslems subsequently showed against Christian churches. If I were the Pope I wouldn't have apologised. I'd have given them the finger. I'd have shaken my fist at them and said Christianity stands for Truth and Goodness, and we are to oppose Evil in all of its forms, and there is a lot of hate in the Islamic World. I don't think it's any stretch to say that Islam is the most hate and violence filled of all the world's religions. We in this country out of fear elected Bush. If you don't like Bush- - - he represents the Hate that you people Created. Just as you people in Iran nominated a right wing nut out of fear. So instead of peace in the world we have two war mongers. I will agree with Randy Rhodes on one thing and that is we can all agree Pope John Paul II was a better pope than Benedict.

Before you conservatives think I've come over to your camp, I'm not done yet. I'd like to talk about this notion of leagelising certain Vices, such as drugs, gambling, and prostitution. The time is coming and may be upon us, when the "norms of society" conservatives are always talking about- - will themselves demand things that may be repugnent to some of us. I saw that internet gambling thing on Sixty Minutes. I think since we already have State Run Lotteries, which I was, and continue to be against, then the elephant is already in the tent. I think the sanest thing we can do now is tax and regulate the gambling, even if it only ends up making American corporations a lot richer. Once the dam bursts on this issue, and I think it's about to, you're going to see a stream of demend for legalization just like they have in Britain and Jamaica and everywhere else. We'll be able to tax the winnings and regulate the way this gambling is transacted. There are already guards against youths gambling. These should be strengthened so that no minor slips through the safty-net. Some famous person said they aren't really laws if nobody respects them, and I think it's time we have laws we can respect. On the matter of drugs and "The king of pot", well I think marijuana is something who's legalization is long past due. The laws against the herb are a real joke, and have been for four decades. If you're a parent with teenagers, this is one thing. Establish whatever rules and procedures you want. But for society in general- - we've "already gone to seed" to make a pun of that seed seller from Canada. Larry Elder says he's a libertarian but he's against U S citizens having the ability to buy prescription drugs in Canada. "It would upset their economy" or something is Larry's rather non-libertarian cop-out. You know what Timothy Leary says, "Better living through chemistry". Drugs of all sorts are becomming more and not less comon. This just another of those "sociatal norms" conservatives will have to get used to. On the matter of stem cell research, Al Frankin raised an interesting point today. He says all these "Snow flake babies" Bush likes to surround himself with, wouldn't have existed were not invetro furtelization practiced to begin with. What does the Pope think of that? Should we kill all those babies just to show we are in earnest against invetro? I speak absurdity, of course. I don't see why it has to be either - Or. Why can't it be both - And. Let's continue research on these embryos or "blasticis" as they are called, on cells that would otherwise only be thrown away, and let deserving couples who want to adopt draw from these same test tube cells that "would otherwise only be thrown away". Society is demanding a cure for these deseases we have, and knowing that a cure is possible out there, only makes us demand louder.
