They
say that one of the biggest typhoons ever to hit the planet is headed for the
Philipines today and ten million people will be severely impacted, if not wiped
out. There are going to be winds ranging
from 145 mph to something like 195 mph or higher in a storm that’s at least
three hundred miles across, and perhaps bigger.
And the news media for the most part is not covering it mainly because “global
warming” is something they are trying desperately to avoid any examples of to
fit in with their tea party “meme”. But
clearly this will be a storm that people won’t be able to “ride out” since it’s
bigger and more deadly than Hurricane Andrew in August 1992 ever was in
Florida. But we move to this story to
Bobby Jendle who believes that creationism needs to be taught in Science
Classes. The point of commonality here
is that it’s not really “creationism’ they want taught but rather some
imaginary Being who justifies their absurd political positions. It’s the classic “nyah - - nyah- - I’m better
than You” stance, which the Calvary Chapel Christians are so famous for. The
truth is if you believe God in Genisis then you believe that Man is a Steward
of the Earth and that God gave man a perfect creation and told man “Don’t mess
it up”. It’s people like Rush Limbaugh
who give credence to evolution saying that if the earth warms or changes than “a
lot of species won’t die; they will just evolve into something that will”. This is a basic scientific falsehood on Rush’s
part. As to that caller on the Stephanie
Miller program, I turned it off after that call and went out for a smoke. If I’m not going to listen to people on the
right who aren’t morally respectable then I need to be morally consistent. The caller tried to explain Creationism in a
Christian perspective and never got the chance because the hosts kept changing
the subject, and would not allow the caller to answer questions they’d JUST
asked him. Because they didn’t WANT answers. All they wanted was some mockery session
where they only joke among themselves.
So the caller hung up. I would
have done the same thing. But none the
less - - it’s a valid concern not to have superstition as a part of science
class because next thing you know you’ll be talking about these hoaxes in Texas
where a man’s footprint is found inside of a dinosaur footprint- - or the idea
that all of these new fossle finds are Satanic hoaxes or that the loch ness
monster and Sasquach are real.
President
Obama can be said to have had three major goals in life. One was to be the first Black man to be
elected President. This was not a MEANS
to an end for Obama, it was an END or goal in itself. The next one is to promote gay marriage and
the third- - is this obsession with a health care program nobody wants. There was a Black (?) caller who like 95%
percent of Americans does not like Obama Care because this President told the
lie time and time again that “If you have insurance you like, you can keep it”. The President repeated this lie so annoyingly
much during the campaign I was wondering “If your bill affects only a small
percentage of America why are you willing to risk your Presidency not to
mention the entire US economy to get the thing passed? But it’s like my Mom when I was getting on
SSI. She hyped the thing to death as a
solution to all my problems and repeated the statement ‘If you just get your
way on this by hook or by crook- - you’ll never have to worry about Money again”,
even though I wasn’t worried THAT much about money before. The analogy is similar. If she had told me, “Of course you know if
you take that SSI you are as much as disinheriting yourself” of course I’d
thought differently. If the President
has said that young men would be paying for things like diabetes and
cholesterol drugs, and breast pumps and pediatric dental care- - of course they
would say “I don’t need all that”. There
was a cartoon that had Paul Revere or someone saying “It’s good that King
George III didn’t have Justice John Roberts on his side, because then he’d know
that you could tax Americans for refusing to buy our tea”. Personally I don’t like having my behavior “criminalized”
like it apparently was for decades because I did not have any association with
medical insurance or health care plans.
I was inundated with them in the mail in early 1997 and found myself in
a frazzled and besieged mental state because of it.
Hollywood
Park is closing and December 22nd will be the last horse race there,
only weeks away. I’d heard the Inglewood
race track was closing before but I guess I didn’t know it would be this
soon. People don’t go to the track any
more to watch the race, and bet on horses at off track gambling sites. This is a sad thing because it’s a bit or
organic foliage etcetra in the middle of this Urban blight we call Los
Angeles. Maybe I should attend just one
race there be4fore the place closes down.
Trans fats were again in the news yesterday. The government now wants laws and regulations
that ban ALL “trans fats’ and hydrogenated oils in foods, which is a complete
absurdity, because I guarantee you that whatever they replace those trans fats
with will be LESS organic and less healthy for us than trans fats. I hate this ever growing presence of the
Nanny State. In another story there was
that Meteor that appeared in our western skies around eight o clock on Tuesday
evening that shone really bright, like a fireball. I saw it- - and pretty much suspected it wasn’t
an airplane- - because it was all round.
Others with better vision could probably describe it better. Now the media is telling us that meteors may
be more of a threat to earth than we had previously thought. We’re sure seeing more of them.
As
to this strange bullying story about a Miami Dolphin - - I don’t know what to
make of that. But it seems to be that
clearly you want to aim your wrath at players from the OTHER team rather than
your own. Because if a team is squabbling
amongst themselves- - you get disconuity and divided efforts. Many are concerned about the “whoosification”
of the National Football League. They
say there are too many rules. In the
past I have told you about certain rules I would do away with in the game. Since injuries have been on the increase,
particularly head injuries- - I think there would be a maximum weight
rule. After in boxing you don’t take on
someone who isn’t in your weight category.
Perhaps they should have a maximum weight limit such as three hundred or
maybe even lower like 285. This alone
might make the game a lot safer as well as a lot more realistic so you don’t
have genetic freaks out there. Clearly
there seems to be a weight where injuries are more likely than at lower
weights. I’m not going to pass judgement
on the specifics of this bullying case since I wasn’t there. But to respond to some host yesterday who
said “Why would you just walk away and not even go to the Coach and say there
is something wrong?” Some say it was the
coach himself who gave the equivalent of a “Code Red’ in A Few Good Man. If this turns out to be the case, than I’d
feel justified in leaving the team.
Because you can deal with a one on one bullying case- - but when the
thing has “metastasized” into some institutional bullying- - all hope for
resolving the problem is lost.
What
the tea party desperately needs is a real “Christine Di Mira” moment like in
today’s soap opera episode. That is on
her wedding day a video is accidently shown that depicts her having sex with an
apparently lusty Priest. Of course this
tape was carefully edited hiring an expert to put the Priest in the worst
possible light. But Victor didn’t know
this when he chose to disgrace the couple publicly. But the tea party needs that “moment’ when
everybody sees them for what they really are.
And they haven’t yet because the Media in general has been protecting
them from embarrassing moments. As to
the notion of Rand Paul plagurizing speeches- - I don’t see what the big issue
is on that one myself since all candidates hire speech writers anyhow so that
virtually none of the words the candidate speech giver are his own. (Selah)
“His brains” are the person who scripted the speech. What is stranger than this is the idea that
chaotic comedy talk shows like Howard Stern or Stephanie Miller might actually
have to be “written” as if the normal chaos is actually “planned out’ in advance. When you think of it in those terms, then a person like myself who writes off the top of
his head actually comes off as pretty smart.
This
final story almost made me physically ill when I heard it on the Randy Rhodes
show yesterday afternoon. Had this story
come from Glen Beck or someone like that I would have thought he was off his trolley
and given it no credence. They say that
last year Governor Christie actually struck up a deal with Obama and the
democratic party. Governor Christie would
“make nice” with Obama and appear with him on the Hurricane Sandy crisis- - and
Christie would actually disparage Romney- - in exchange for the Democrats not
putting up a serious effort to oppose Christie for being reelected as New
Jersey governor. Perhaps Cory Booker was
part of the deal, too, getting him elected to the Senate last month. So the Democrats got a lot, and the only
thing they had to give up was Christie gets a few more years as New Jersey’s
governor- - who if the people at large knew what he really stood for on so many
issues, they would never have voted for him.
But Christie can go on a couple more years and then run for
President. And if he gets nominated by
the Republican Party- - then all of the skeletons in Christie’s closet will
come out- - and he will be disgraced as a candidate in the fall campaign. Randy Rhodes said that she has no problem
with this sort of “horse trading’ and that this is what politics is all
about. I guess I’m not too keen on all
these “pre scripted” outcomes, myself.
